Building resilience as part of recovery

Opportunity

The Black Summer bushfires had a major impact on NSW regional business communities during 2019-20.

Resilient Ready (formerly corporate2community) was funded to deliver bespoke solutions to embed and build resilience for northern and southern regional businesses across an 18-month period.

Our approach

We worked with local councils to co-design the content for our Business Community Resilience (BCR) Toolkits, which were customised for each region.

An innovative solution, our BCR Toolkit is tailored to building localised resilience in all types of organisations within a community.

As part of the recovery and resilience to future disasters journey of each region, we created micro-learning modules as recommended by local business people, councils, emergency services, and other community groups.

We built and rolled out the Toolkits during an 18-month period to engage and build resilient business communities across both regions in NSW.

The Toolkit has shown me small steps I can take to get my business ready for all types of disasters.

Data reveals business vulnerabilities

Outcomes

We delivered two bespoke Toolkits for northern and southern regional business communities, customised to their areas and featuring local business owners and operators.

De-identified data was shared with participating Councils so they could identify capabilities, gaps and vulnerabilities in their local business communities, and focus on providing the right kind of support local businesses need.
