MMWI is a proactive collaboration by four Victorian metropolitan water corporations to build knowledge and capabilities to respond to major disasters, together.
Wholesaler, Melbourne Water, together with retailers, Greater Western Water, South East Water and Yarra Valley Water recognised the value of working together before, during and after disasters.
As a result a Complex Incident Coordination Plan (CICP) was developed to enable senior leaders, incident leaders, planning and intelligence leaders as well as strategic communications leaders to align their knowledge and response processes.
To support this collaborative commitment, MMWI was seeking expert training to build capabilities across 180+ participants in emergency management.
Taking careful consideration of the proposed module topics and per-audience delivery structure provided by MMWI, we created bespoke:
In-person sessions were delivered across all four locations to support inclusive participation. Materials were tailored across specific audiences to ensure maximum benefit.
External networks were approached with government panel guests attending where relevant.
Renae and I are the perfect combination of government and non-government knowledge and experience building capabilities across the sector.

Two online learning programs were created with a total of 15 modules featuring online videos and short questionnaires.
Five in-person workshops were delivered across strategic leaders, incident leaders, planning and intelligence leaders and strategic communications leaders.
Participant feedback of the EM Awareness online training program:
I just wanted to say that short course was the best training I’ve done to date with regards to EM and I love the way it spells out different Incidents at different levels and just how relatable the content is.
Well done on getting that training together as I believe that is the training we have been wanting (as water authorities) for a long time.
In-person sessions resulted in stronger social capital and greater intent to collaborate. The training was a positive step in the MMWI commitment to strategic upskilling in EM capabilities.
