On 23 October 2025, Resilient Ready launched Australia’s new Social Capital + Social Infrastructure Measurement Framework and online mapping tool at the Victoria Park Social Club in Adelaide.

Opened by Johanna Garnett, Manager of Emergency Management, Risk and Resilience at the South Australian Fire and Emergency Services Commission (SAFECOM), the event featured speeches from the Hon Kate Thwaites, Special Envoy for Climate Adaptation and Resilience and the Hon Catherine Hutchesson, South Australian Member for Waite.

Resilient Ready CEO, Renae Hanvin introduced the new Framework, social capital descriptor, social infrastructure descriptor and online mapping tool.

Connection is our most powerful form of building national preparedness.

“Australia now has the evidence to show where community connections are strong and where they need support to reduce risks and build resilience, long before the next disaster happens”, said Renae.

Professor Daniel Aldrich shared our approach to measurement and validation including early findings from our pilot communities of Adelaide City, Whyalla and Kangaroo Island.

It’s rare to see a country take global research and rigorously test it against such diverse local realities,” said Professor Aldrich.

“Validating the framework in the three Australian pilot communities hives us confidence that this model can guide paperiness and investment worldwide.”

This project is funded by the Australian Government via the Disaster Ready Fund Round 2 program.
