Building better business resilience in 2023

During 2023 we’ve witnessed another year of compounding disasters to impact Australian business communities. At the end of each year we like to reflect on the past 12 months in terms of our contribution to building disaster resilience.

We have again been privileged to work with many individuals and organisations, delivering real and meaningful change to benefit local businesses and wider communities.

Here are some of our favourite milestones from 2023 to remind ourselves of the positive change we are leading.

FAR AND WIDE

• Over 800 Australian businesses have participated in our Business Community Resilience (BCR) Toolkit program
• We have worked across 3 States this year with multiple projects in South Australia, and others delivered in Victoria and NSW

THOUGHT LEADERSHIP

• We have published 3 White Papers with findings and recommendations on risk reduction and resilience focused on Kangaroo Island SA, the Blue Mountains NSW and focused on small business insurance
• Shared 7 data reports from our BCR Toolkit programs on real-time gaps and Australian business communities

AWARD WINNER

• We entered our first Award and won the South Australian Resilience Australia Business Award for our ‘Kangaroo Island Business Climate Roadmap’ project

EMBRACING LIVED EXPERIENCE

• We filmed (and paid) over 100 lived experience videos with local business people sharing their insights and learnings to benefit others

SOCIAL CAPITAL + SOCIAL INFRASTRUCTURE

• Spent 4 months with global disaster resilience expert and Resilient Ready Volunteer and Advisory delivery partner Professor Daniel Aldrich
• Shared our resilience approach at 10+ disaster, emergency and business events
