Helping Northern Rivers people do business beyond disasters

 

 

Business Beyond Disasters was a free program for all Northern Rivers NSW businesses and non-profits available until 31 Dec 2025. NSW businesses located outside of the Northern Rivers were also welcome to register for one of the five online programs.

Delivered by Resilient Ready in collaboration with NSW Reconstruction Authority, this simple and helpful program was designed to help locals plan for disasters, build essential business continuity capabilities and work together to overcome future challenges.

About the program

Business Beyond Disasters was a free program run for businesses and non-profits operating from the Northern Rivers NSW region.

NSW businesses located outside of the Northern Rivers were also welcome to register for one of the five online programs.

There were 5 programs running in parallel. Participants could choose the one program that was right for them from:

  • Retail, professional services and education
  • Agribusiness and aqua business
  • Tourism
  • Heath care and community services
  • Construction, trades and manufacturing

Modules

Modules were specifically selected to benefit local businesses or non-profits, and are industry relevant.

Each module was designed to help locals build resilience in 5 minute intervals. Yes, that’s right you can help your business beyond disasters in 5 minutes at a time!

Modules included helpful information, simple worksheets, short videos from locals and links to helpful resources.

What was this program?

Business Beyond Disasters Northern Rivers was a free program for all Northern Rivers NSW businesses and non-profits. Flyer available here.

NSW businesses located outside of the Northern Rivers were also welcome to register for one of the five online programs.

It was a tailored version of Resilient Ready’s innovative Business Community Resilience (BCR) Toolkit. The BCR Toolkit program helps business and non-profit people to make small changes that have a big impact.

Ten module topic were released from May to July 2025 and were available to access until 31 December 2025. The program helped local businesses and non-profits operating in the Northern Rivers region to build knowledge and skills.

Modules were been specifically selected to benefit local businesses or non-profits, and were industry relevant. All modules focused on a relevant topic and aim to take only 5-10 minutes to complete. Modules included two simple yes/no questions, an industry-specific local business case study and easy-to-understand worksheets and tools.

Target program outcomes included:

  • Efficient planning for disasters
  • Increased essential business continuity capabilities
  • Working together to overcome future challenges
