Helping small businesses thrive in the good times, and get ready for the bad

Resilient Ready in collaboration with Department for Industry, Innovation and Science (DIIS) and the Council of Small Business Organisations Australia (COSBOA) delivered Business Community Resilience (BCR) Toolkit program FREE for all small businesses operating from the Upper Spencer Gulf region in South Australia throughout 2023. The program was also extended to November 2024.

Co-designed with a local advisory group, this program was open to small businesses within:

  • City of Whyalla
  • City of Port Augusta
  • Port Pirie Regional Council

The program, and the resources were open for anyone who owns, operates, or works for a small business within the above regions

About the project

15 micro-learning modules were released weekly over 15 weeks from July to October 2023. The program was extended for another year and closed on 30 November 2024.

All modules were released and pre-recorded webinars were also included in the Toolkit.

The Business Community Resilience (BCR) Toolkit was a collaboration between Resilient Ready, the Department for Industry, Innovation and Science (DIIS) and the Council of Small Business Organisations Australia (COSBOA).

What is the project?

The BCR Toolkit: Upper Spencer Gulf program was a tailored version of Resilient Ready’s innovative Business Community Resilience (BCR) Toolkit.

Running from July until October 2023, and further extension to November 2024, the BCR Toolkit: Upper Spencer Gulf program covered 15 resilience-themed micro-learning modules. All modules focused on a locally-relevant topic and take 5-10 minutes to complete. Modules included two simple yes/no questions, a local small business case study and easy-to-understand worksheets and tools.

Throughout 2023 & 2024, the Toolkit was a huge benefit to participating businesses.

Program outcomes included:

  • Increased knowledge across small business communities
  • Positive behaviour changes resulting in better small business
  • Data to identify local small business community vulnerabilities
Who is the project for?

The  BCR Toolkit: Upper Spencer Gulf program was FREE for all small business owners, operators, and employee operating with the South Australian Local Government Areas listed below: 

  • City of Whyalla 
  • City of Port Augusta 
  • Port Pirie Regional Council 

We encouraged multiple people from small businesses to participate.
