Resilient Ready is excited to be working closely with young farmers in NSW to play a role in building resilience in regional communities.

Funded by the Young Farmer Business Program (YFBP) within the NSW Department of Primary Industries, we have developed a bespoke Business Community Resilience (BCR) Toolkit program – Future Ready Young Farmers & Fishers – to help build resilience capabilities in young farmers aged 18-40.

The 3-month program will be delivered across 3 Local Government Areas – Lismore, MidCoast and Glen Innes Severn. Co-designed with local steering groups, young farmers in each region will benefit from 15 micro-learning modules to be released online from March to May 2023.

In-community workshops will be held each month to kickstart regional conversations among participants around resilience. These community connections will encourage those working in farming businesses of all sizes to make small changes that will have a big impact on their sustainability.

The ‘Future Ready Young Farmers & Fishers’ BCR Toolkit program will feature some great case studies by and for young farmers, sharing hard-won experience and knowledge in a relatable way.

The Future Ready toolkit will help our young farmers and fishers take small steps to prepare for the future, producing real benefits for themselves, their businesses and the wider community. I’m really excited for the opportunities this program will expose for the participants.

“Using storytelling and peer to peer learning, our BCR Toolkits cut through in a way other approaches do not with participants gaining a greater understanding of what it means to run a sustainable business and be resilient in the long term,” Resilient Ready founder Renae Hanvin said.

“The BCR Toolkit is a proven method of creating positive change through an online learning platform that’s flexible to the needs of participants.”

Participants will build their own resilience through completing a series of micro-learning modules, gaining new skills, and receiving plenty of encouragement along the way.

The program is FREE for young farmers and fishers in the Lismore, MidCoast and Glen Innes Severn local government areas of NSW. Registrations are now open and will remain open until 31 May 2023.

The program will go live on 6 March 2023.
