Resilient Ready was excited to collaborate with the CFA, VICSES and Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions (DJSIR) to deliver a FREE program to build resilient business communities across Victoria’s Phillip Island and Bass Coast region.

Co-designed with a regional consultative group, this innovative solution was tailored to building localised resilience in all businesses and organisations that connect with visitors.

About the project

15 micro-learning modules were released weekly over 10 weeks from June to November 2023. The program was extended for another year and closed on 30 November 2024.

All modules were released and pre-recorded webinars were also included in the Toolkit.

What is the project?

The Disaster Ready Phillip Island + Bass Coast program was a tailored version of Resilient Ready’s innovative Business Community Resilience (BCR) Toolkit. The BCR Toolkit program builds regional connections and helps businesses to make small changes that have a big impact.

Running from June until November 2023, and further extension to November 2024, the Disaster Ready Phillip Island + Bass Coast program supported many businesses across the region to build their resilience through 15 resilience-themed micro-learning modules. All modules focused on a locally-relevant topic and take 5-10 minutes to complete. Modules included two simple yes/no questions, a local business case study and easy-to-understand worksheets and tools.

Throughout 2023 & 2024, the Toolkit was a huge benefit to participating businesses.

Program outcomes included:

  • Safer tourists and tourism operators
  • Increased knowledge across the business community
  • Positive behaviour changes resulting in better business
  • Data to identify local business community vulnerabilities
Who is the project for?

The Disaster Ready Phillip Island + Bass Coast program was FREE for all business owners, operators and employees in the Bass Coast local government area.

The program was targeted at  businesses within the region with a direct connection to visitors.
